Death Wears a Wall-Eye

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

“Oh no!” screamed the bubbles.

“Aieee!” moaned the waves.

The greasy baleful squid-eye ignored these damp blatherings, preferring instead to roll slowly to its right, where a second rubbery squid-lid was opening, at a pace formerly reserved for particularly ambitious glaciers.

“Gah, a cross-eyed squid!” squealed a starfish as it inched past as fast as its little suckers would take it.

With an audible pop, the Squid uncrossed its eyes. And then… And then. Massive, bilious, and menacing, it began to hoist its undulating bulk up towards the faint gleams of light in the darkness. Up towards the lower pressures, where the darker things did not tend to go.

Up to where the littlest ninja was waiting.

Burbles of doom

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Deep below the lake’s surface, something was happening.

Something bad.

The fish seemed to think it was bad, anyway. Guppies and clownfish darted away in terror, some primal instinct urging them on towards a place that was far away — as far away as possible — from the place where they had been, which (in their opinion) was not nearly far enough from the thing that was scaring them.

Even the seaweed tried to leave, but silently cursed its fate when it realized that it was rooted to the ground.

And in a shadowy crevice of the slimiest rock in the darkest deeps of the lake, a single greasy, baleful eye slowly opened.

The Squid was awake.

Squid vs Ninjas: The Beginning

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

The sun beat down on the unforgiving sand. The sea bubbled menacingly, in a way that would have made the trees rustle nervously, if there were any trees. But there were none. The only rustling came from the folds of the littlest ninja’s clothing, as he waited quietly, staring out towards the horizon.

As if he knew.

As if it had happened before.
